Study notes

The marks ゛ and ゜ change consonant sounds, such as か → が and は → ぱ.

A small ゃ, ゅ or ょ combines with an i-column kana: き + ゃ → きゃ (kya).

Small っ or ッ has no standalone sound. It briefly closes the airflow and doubles the next consonant, as in きって (kitte).
